As one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Tracy Morgan is a household name. The Saturday Night Live star is one of the most notable comedians of this generation, with unparalleled charisma and infectious energy. His jokes light up every single room, whether you’re watching him on screen or live.
Tracy Morgan got his start in showbiz playing Hustle Man on the TV show Martin. This character was all about selling stuff from the "hood" and had a catchphrase, "What's happ'n, chief?" He even had a pet dog dressed as a rapper – talk about unique!
After that, he popped up in a Chris Rock movie called Head of State in 2003. The show is where he played a guy glued to the TV, wondering why people weren't watching Martin. Classic.
He was also part of the crew on Uptown Comedy Club, a sketch-comedy show that ran from '92 to '94, filming right in Harlem.
Then, Tracy made a big move and joined the Saturday Night Live crew in '96, beating out Stephen Colbert for the gig. He rocked the SNL stage until 2003, made some comebacks as a host, and even guest-starred in 2011.
He tried his hand at his own sitcom called The Tracy Morgan Show in 2003, but it got the ax after just one season.
But things took a turn for the better when he became part of the 30 Rock cast from '06 to '13. He played a character called Tracy Jordan, pretty much a funny version of himself. He even got nominated for an Emmy in 2009 for his role.
And in 2018, Tracy started headlining the TBS show The Last O.G., which ran for a cool four seasons until 2021.
Earlier in 2022, the acclaimed New York Friars Club awarded the Entertainment Icon Award to Tracy Morgan at the club's spring gala. He is only the ninth recipient of the prestigious comedy award, and the first Black recipient! An outstanding achievement for the comedian. More recently, he released an HBO Max comedy special, Tracy Morgan: Takin’ It Too Far.
This November, he’s celebrating his birthday! The comedian is turning 55 years old and it’s going to be a very special day. Catch him live at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort! You can get tickets by clicking ‘GET TICKETS’
