Clay Walker is among those artists who had their breakthrough on their first try. Right after his debut in 1993, country listeners were immediately smitten by him. This is thanks to his fresh, youthful energy, a style that perfectly captures Texan country and good looks. All in all, he has released 11 albums. Most of these obtained accolades, like one gold and four platinum certifications, 30 hit singles, and 11 top hits. He continues to dominate the country scene after three decades in the industry.

The dreamy country singer-songwriter grew up in Vidor, Orange County, Texas. He is the oldest among five siblings. His love for country music was encouraged by his family. At nine, he was given a guitar by his father, which he heartily taught himself how to play. When he was 15, Walker began to join singing competitions, as he was already rearing for a career in music. After some time, he would then send out his tapes to radio stations for them to listen to them. One time, a DJ got ahold of one of his tapes. Liking what he listened to, he decided to play it on the morning radio. Walker graduated in high school and worked at a local Goodyear. His work funded his growing music career. When he turned 19, he started to tour and perform in bars and clubs. This was where he was discovered by James Stroud, a record producer and president of Giant Records.

His eponymous album came out to positive acclaim and airplay success. The album's single, "What's It to You," topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks and broke through the top 100 of Billboard Hot 100. The follow-up single "Live Until I Die" became his second top-charting song. "Dreaming with My Eyes Open" then became his third top song after it became a soundtrack of the drama-dy film The Thing Called Love.

His second album, "If I Could Make a Living," lived up to the hype he was starting to receive. Its title track and second single, "This Woman and This Man," topped the charts. This success propelled him to another album release. "Hypnotize the Moon" cam out in 1995. It did not spawn top hits but was at par in success with the other albums. Two years after, "Rumor Has It" was released. Again, its title track topped the charts. In the years that followed, he released seven more albums, with "Texas to Tennesse" being his most recent record.

Clay Walker will perform at the Pearl Concert Theater on Saturday, December 9. If you love country music, this is something you shouldn't miss. Get your tickets now!
